Jute godown gutted

Huge jute were gutted by fire at a jute godown in the city’s Kalurghat industrial area yesterday.
The fire originated from a jute godown at Kalurghat industrial area around 1.30pm and gutted jute worth about Tk. 1.5 lakh, said Mohammad Jasim, Officer at Kalutghat Fire station.
Two units of fire service from Kalurghat station rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control, fire service officer Jasim said adding that firemen saved jute worth about TK. three lakh from the fire.
2 held with hemp: Detective Branch (DB) of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) arrested two persons with five kilograms of ganja from city’s Kodomtoli area on Friday morning.
The arrested were identified as Sagar Dey, 21 and Mohammad
hashem, 25, both hailing from Cox’s Bazar.
Based on secret information, a team of DB arrested them with the hemp worth about TK 50 thousand from CRB Crossing area of Kodomtoli around 6am, DB sources said.
A case was filed under Narcotics Control Act in this connection.
