BD seeks Danish tech support to process agriproducts

Bangladesh has sought advanced technological support from Denmark for processing agricultural products and increasing export.
Agriculture Minister Muhammad Abdur Razzaque made the call in a meeting with newly appointed Danish Ambassador to Dhaka Winnie Estrup Petersen at the secretariat on Tuesday.
“Bangladesh lags behind in exports and processing. But the country has a lot of potential for export and processing of mango, pineapple, banana, tomato, potato and vegetables,” Razzaque said.
So, this requires Danish investment and advanced technical assistance from the Scandinavian country, he added.
In response, Petersen said her country will also take the initiative to invest in the processing of agricultural products in Bangladesh.
Besides, Denmark will also assist the country in improving the quality of agricultural products and ensuring safe food, she said.
Initiatives will be taken to send investment and trade missions from Denmark if the Covid situation improves, Petersen added.
