Narayanganj Development Authority Chairman Mashukul Islam Rajib inspects parking facilities at buildings in the city's Chashara and BB Road areas on Monday.

Narayanganj Development Authority (NDA) Chairman Mashukul Islam Rajib has said that nearly 99 percent of people lack awareness of the rules and regulations governing building construction.

Many people fail to properly follow approved plans and other regulations when constructing buildings, creating various problems later. He stressed that building owners must comply with approved designs and building regulations while ensuring adequate parking facilities and other required provisions.

He made the remarks on Monday while inspecting parking facilities at various buildings in the Chashara and BB Road areas of Narayanganj city.

During the inspection, he checked whether designated parking spaces in different buildings were being used properly and whether the relevant rules and regulations had been followed during construction.
The NDA chairman warned building owners not to occupy designated parking spaces or use them for other purposes.

He also instructed them to comply with regulations during construction and ensure adequate parking facilities.

Mashukul Islam Rajib further said that everyone must act more responsibly in building construction to develop a planned and livable city. In particular, designated parking areas must be preserved for parking rather than being used for other purposes.

He warned that legal action would be taken against those who construct buildings beyond their approved plans or use designated parking spaces for other purposes.

City residents have complained that many buildings on major roads and in commercial areas of Narayanganj lack adequate parking facilities.

As a result, vehicles are frequently parked in front of buildings and along roads, causing daily traffic congestion and creating increasing difficulties for pedestrians and other commuters.

Those present during the inspection included Authorized Officer Nur Alam, Chief Building Officer Omar Faruk, Building Officers Bappy Biswas and Shafiqullah, Assistant Building Officer Abu Sadat Sayem, and others.
