Workers’ strike hits jute industry

The strike of jute workers demanding enhancement of salary from October 25 in Narayanganj has hit jute industry seriously , businessmen alleged.
Sources said, in every three years , salary was raised and the last tenure for raising salary was June 30, 2014 and following that the workers demanded enhancement of 100 per cent salary to the Bangladesh Jute Mills Association on July 1 but it was rejected reasons best known to the authority and workers called indefinite strike from October 25 .
The leaders of Bangladesh Jute Mills Association has failed to take any effective action as the Association is locked in law suit.
Considering this situation, Jute Workers Union President Abdus Salam has called a meeting on 30-10-2014 at the Bangladesh Jute Mills Association office .
