Mahmudullah Riyad hit his fifth century in Test cricket. He remained unbeaten with 150 in the first innings against Zimbabwe on the second day of the lone Test match at Harare Sports Club Ground in Zimbabwe on Thursday. Bangladesh made 468 in the first innings.
In reply, Zimbabwe were 114/1 at 1stumps.
 Bangladesh led the first innings by 354 runs.
Riyad’s sparkle 278-ball innings had 17 fours and a sixer. It is Mahmudullah Riyad’s highest score in his Test campaign. Riyad played 50 Test matches and 94 innings. He scored 2914 runs in Test cricket.
When Mominul Haque was caught at the gully by Dion Myers off Victor Nyauchi Bangladesh’s score was 132 for the loss of six wickets on the opening day (Wednesday).
Then Mahmudullah Riyad and Liton Das salvaged their team from danger contributing together 138 runs for the seventh wicket stand before Liton Das was caught at the fine leg by Nyauchi off Donald Tiripano when the tourists’ total was 270 for the loss of seven wickets on the first day.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz could not stay at the crease for a long period as he was trapped leg before wicket by Tiripano when the visitors’ total was 280 for the loss of eight wickets on the same day.
After Miraz’s departure, Mahmudullah Riyad and Taskin Ahmed mended their innings contributing together 191 runs for the ninth wicket partnership on the second day. It is Bangladesh’s record ninth wicket stand. Riyad and Taskin broke the earlier Bangladesh’s ninth wicket partnership record. Taskin Ahmed was bowled out by Milton Shumba when the touring side’s score was 461 for the loss of nine wickets. Taskin gave Riyad a splendid support making 75. After dismissal of Taskin Ahmed, No. 11 batsman Eabadot Hossain came at the pitch  
but his innings was short-lived as he was trapped leg before wicket by Blessing Muzarabani when Bangladesh’s innings came to an end (468). If Ebadot Hossain could give support to Riyad, the right-arm batsman’s innings could be increased, according to the playing performance of Riyad.
Riyad fulfilled his fifty-run landmark using 133 balls including five fours.
He reached his fifth 100-run landmark utilizing 195 deliveries with 11 fours and one six.
Zimbabwe made a good start as openers Milton Shumba and Takudzwanashe Kaitano added together 61 runs before Shumba was trapped leg before wicket by Shakib Al Hasan when the African side’s total was 61.
Shumba made 41 from 83 balls featuring seven fours.
Kaitano and Brendan Taylor were on 33 and 37 runs respectively before the bails were drawn for the second day.
Shakib Al Hasan took one wicket only for 43 runs.
