50th anniv of Malta’s Independence celebrated

The 50th anniversary of the Independence of Malta was celebrated by the Honorary Consulate of the Malta in Dhaka on the eve of 19th September 2014. On this special occasion, the Honorary Consul of Malta to Dhaka, M.Shoeb Chowdhury and his spouse hosted a gala reception at the Lakeshore Hotel at Dhaka in Bangladesh. Ministers, Parliament Members, politicians, businessmen, media representatives, academicians, high government officials and members of the diplomatic corps attended the function.
In his address, Consul M.Shoeb Chowdhury referred to the excellent relations that exist between Malta and Bangladesh and conveyed the greetings of the President Ms Marie Louise Coleiro Preca and Prime Minister of Malta Dr. Joseph Muscat to all the guests present.
At the end of the Consul’s address,the national anthems of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and of the Republic of Malta were played. The celebration came to an end when the Honorary Consul M. Shoeb Chowdhury and Mrs. Chowdhury cut a cake along with Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque , Dean of Diplomatic Corps Shaher Mohammad, Annisul Huq, President of SAARC Chamber of Commerce Industries , Former Information Secretary and Founder Chairman of BTRC Syed Marghub Murshed. The cake was decorated in the Maltese national flag and it was marked with the symbol of golden jubilee of Malta.
