Five ‘dacoits’ held in city

A team of Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in a drive arrested five dacoits along with a truck in the city’s Shyampur area early Monday.
They have been identified as Amir Hossain, 35, Jalal Hossain 34,
Main Uddin alias Monu, 28, Eaqub Ali Mridha alias Bhandary, 39, and Nuruzzaman Mridha, 30, police said.
Confirming the incident, DMP Assistant Commissioner (AC) Mahmud Naser said that the DB members conducted the drive in the Postagola Bridge area under Shyampur on a secret information around 12:10 am and arrested the dacoits from the spot with firearms and the tuck.
The DMP official said the dacoits have confessed in primary interrogation that they had a syndicate across the country, including Rangpur, Chuadanga, Madaripur and Faridpur.
A case was filed with Shyampur Police Station in this connection.
