Pakistan beat BD in 1st T20I

Pakistan earned a hard-fought five-wicket victory over Bangladesh in their first Twenty20 International (T20I) cricket match at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore of Pakistan on Friday.
Chasing Bangladesh’s fighting total of 141 for the loss of five wickets in the allotted 20 overs, Pakistan reached the winning target making 142 for the loss of five wickets when they had just three balls to spare.
Pakistan had a shaky start as they lost their early two wickets for 35 runs.
Then Ahsan Ali and Shoaib Malik repaired the damage adding together 46 runs for the third wicket partnership before Ahsan Ali was caught at the
long-off by substitute Najmul Hossain Shanto off Aminul Islam when the hosts’ total was 81 for the loss of three wickets.
Shoaib Malik remained unbeaten with 58 runs. He hit five fours in his 45-ball innings. Shoaib Malik was adjudged the Man of the Match
Ahsan made 36 from 32 balls featuring four fours.
After Ahsan’s dismissal, Shoaib Malik and Iftikhar Ahmed put on together 36 runs in the fourth wicket stand before Iftikhar (16) was caught behind by wicketkeeper Liton Das off Shafiul Islam when Pakistan’s s score was 117 for the loss of four wickets.
Then pacer Al-Amin Hossain bowled out Imad Wasim for six runs when Pakistan’s score was 133 for the loss of five wickets.
After Imad’s removal, Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Rizwan guided their team to reach the winning spot.
Earlier, Shafiul Islam dismissed Babar Azam for a duck and Mustafizur Rahman picked up the wicket of Mohammad Hafeez for 17 runs.
Shafiul Islam bagged a pair of wickets at the cost of 27 runs, while Al-Amin Hossain, Aminul Islam and Mustafizur Rahman took one wicket each for 18, 28 and 40 runs respectively.
Bangladesh made a good start as openers Tamim Iqbal and Mohammad Naim put on together 71 runs in the opening stand before Tamim Iqbal was unfortunately run out by a joint-effort of Haris Rouf and wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan.
Tamim Iqbal hit a fine 39. His 34-ball innings was studded with four fours and a sixer.
After Tamim’s dismissal, Liton Das (12) was run out by a direct throw of Shadab Khan when Bangladesh’s score was 98 for the loss of two wickets.
Then Mohammad Naim was caught at the long-on by Iftikhar Ahmed off Shadab Khan when Bangladesh’s total was 98 for the loss of three wickets.
Naim made a respectable 43. His 41-ball innings was laced with three fours and two sixes.
After Naim’s departure, Bangladesh batsmen failed to make any notable partnership.
Third-down Afif Hossain (9) was cleanly bowled out by Haris Rouf when the tourists’ score was 119 for the loss of four wickets.
Fourth-down Soumya Sarkar (7) failed to settle at the crease as he (7) was bowled out by Shaheen Shah Afridi when the visitors’ score was 128 for the loss of five wickets.
Mahmudullah Riyad remained unbeaten with 19, while Mohammad Mithun remained unbeaten with five runs.
Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shadab Khan and Haris Rouf took one wicket each for 23, 26 and 32 runs respectively.
