BNP will stage demonstration across the country on Saturday disagreeing with the verdict of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court which rejected the bail petition of Khaleda Zia.
The party will stage demonstration and bring out procession across the countries including Dhaka on the day.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir made the announcement at BNP Chairperson’s Gulshan office on Thursday night after an emergency meeting as the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court rejected the bail petition of its Chairperson.
Before that, BNP senior leaders sat in an
emergency meeting on Thursday evening to work out their next course of action since the Appellate Division denied bail to their Chairperson Khaleda Zia in Zia Charitable Trust graft case. The meeting began around 6:30pm.
The party leaders, led by its Secretary General Fakhrul Islam Alamgir elaborately discussed the court judgment and finalised their next course of action, said BNP chairperson’s media wing member Sayrul Kabir Khan.
Earlier in the day, the Appellate Division rejected the bail petition of the BNP chief in the graft case.
The former prime minister has been in jail since February 8 last year after she was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment in separate corruption case.
