Dr Zafrullah, Naem Nizam sued for hurting religious sentiment

A case was filed against three persons, including Gonoshwastha Kendra Founder Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury and Bangladesh Pratidin Editor Naem Nizam on charges of hurting religious sentiment.
The other accused is Pir Habibur Rahman, Executive Editor of the daily.
Bangladesh Minority Janata Party Acting General Secretary Gautam Kumar Edbar lodged the
 case with Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court on Thursday.
Metropolitan Magistrate Rajesh Chowdhury recorded the statement of the plaintiff and is expected to pass an order later.
According to the case statement, Zafrullah Chowdhury wrote a column in the daily on October 26 titled — How Muslims learnt to eat beef.
 “The writing hurt the religious sentiment of Hindu communities,” it said.
Naem Nizam and Pir Habibur Rahman have been made accused for publishing the column in their daily, the case statement added.
