ACC sues Khoka, seven others

UNB, Dhaka :The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) on Sunday filed a case against former Dhaka City Corporation (DCC) mayor and BNP leader Sadeque Hossain Khoka and seven others for allegedly allocating shops illegally.ACC assistant director Mahbubul Alam filed the case against them with Shahbagh Police Station in the capital on Sunday afternoon, ACC public relations officer Pranab Kumar told reporters at the ACC head office.The other accused in the case are former DCC chief estate officer Moshiar Rahman, its former estate officer Mohsin Uddin Morol, retired estate officer Sahabuddin Sabu, Kanungo Mohammad Ali, and surveyors Mohammad Bachchu Mia, Faruque Hossain and Motaleb Hossain.According to the first information report (FIR), Khoka in collusion with other accused built shops occupying parking lots and open spaces at Bangabazar and the Dhaka Trade Centre in Gulisthan illegally.Later, the shops were allocated on a temporary basis violating the Local Government (City Corporation) Act 2009, which does not allow temporary allocation.
