Heavy rain likely in 3-div

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast moderately heavy to heavy rainfall in parts of Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions over the 24 hours from 9:00am on Monday.

According to a BMD bulletin, light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds are likely at many places in Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions, and at a few places in Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions.

Kutubdia in Chattogram recorded the country’s highest rainfall, with 81mm in the 24 hours until 6:00am on Monday.

The Met Office said both day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged across the country. It said the axis of the monsoon trough extends from Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal to Assam, passing through the northern part of Bangladesh.

The BMD also said the monsoon remains fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate over the North Bay.
