Roberto Carlos says, ‘Bangladesh is my home’

Brazil World Cup winner Roberto Carlos has described Bangladesh as his “home”, recognising the country’s long-standing support for the five-time world champions in a video message shared by Neymar’s friend and Brazil-based Bangladeshi Robin Mia.

Speaking first in Portuguese before switching to English, the former Brazil and Real Madrid left-back delivered a short message that quickly caught the attention of football supporters in Bangladesh.

“Bangladesh is my house. Brazil, Spain, Bangladesh,” Carlos said in the video.
Carlos ranks among the finest defenders of his generation.

He spent more than a decade at Real Madrid after establishing himself as a key figure for Brazil, where he won the 2002 FIFA World Cup and built a reputation for his attacking runs and powerful free-kicks.

Bangladesh has long been known for its passionate support of Brazil. The country’s football culture drew worldwide attention during the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, when images and videos of Brazilian and Argentine supporters celebrating across Bangladesh spread widely on social media and international news platforms.

That support has also reached Brazil’s national team. During the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Brazil midfielder Bruno Guimaraes spoke about the enthusiasm of Bangladeshi fans during a press conference.

“We footballers watch videos of the support we receive from Bangladesh among ourselves,” Guimaraes said.

Carlos’ latest message adds another chapter to the close bond between Bangladesh and Brazilian football, a relationship that continues to attract attention whenever members of the Selecao acknowledge their supporters in South Asia.
