ICB, BDBL hands over cheques of dividend to govt

The Investment Corporation of Bangladesh (ICB) on Thursday handed over a cheque of over TK 45.56 crore to the government as dividend for fiscal 2012-13.
Kazi Shofiqul Azam and ICB managing director M Faequzzaman handed over the cheque of dividend of Tk 45,56,25,000 to Finance Minister AMA Muhith on behalf of the ICB Board of Directors at a simple ceremony at the Finance Ministry conference room yesterday.
Speaking on the occasion, Finance Minister AMA Muhith hoped that the ICB would continue to play its due role as in the past to help maintain the capital market stable.
The ICB in its 37th AGM had declared cash dividend of Tk 40 per share for fiscal 2012-13. The government got Tk 45,56,25,000 as dividend for its 1,13,90,625 ICB shares.
Bank and Financial Institution Division secretary Dr M Aslam Alam, ICB director Dr Zillur Rahman and other high officials of the Finance Ministry and ICB were, among others, present on the occasion.
Later, the Bangladesh Development Bank Limited (BDBL) handed over a cheque of Tk 10 crore as dividend to the government for the FY 13.
BDBL chairman Prof Shanti Narayan Ghosh and managing director Dr M Zillur Rahman handed over the cheque of dividend to Muhith at a simple ceremony, also at the same venue.
In FY 13, the BDBL made a net profit of Tk 102.01 crore while the total capital of the company stood at Tk 1193.43 crore on December 31, 2013. The bank has now no deficit of capital and provision, according to the bank sources.
Bank and Financial Institutions Division secretary Dr M Aslam Alam, the Board of Directors of the Bank and other high officials of the Finance Ministry and BDBL were present on the occasion.
