Alleged burglar beaten to death in Ishwardi
A man was killed in a mob beating after he was allegedly caught attempting to burglarize a grocery store in Ishwardi, Pabna on Sunday.
During the incident, the suspect allegedly attacked the shop owner and his two sons with a sharp weapon, leaving all three seriously injured. They are currently receiving treatment at Ishwardi Upazila Health Complex.
The incident occurred at around 1:00 am on Sunday in the Thandatola area of Mistripara under Sahapur Union. The deceased was identified as Sumon, 32, son of the late Boyen Mondol of Azizoltola village in Mahadebpur, Sahapur Union.
According to Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ashadur Rahman, Sumon allegedly entered the grocery store owned by Habibul Islam with the intention of committing burglary. Hearing suspicious noises, Habibul, whose house is adjacent to the shop, came outside and attempted to stop him. At that point, Sumon allegedly attacked Habibul and his two sons with a sharp weapon.

Hearing their cries for help, nearby residents rushed to the scene, overpowered Sumon and allegedly beat him. He later died at the scene.
The injured shop owner, Habibul Islam, and his two sons are undergoing treatment at Ishwardi Upazila Health Complex.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ashadur Rahman of Ishwardi Police Station said police recovered the body from the scene and sent it to the Pabna General Hospital morgue for an autopsy. He said legal proceedings had been initiated and an investigation into the incident was underway.
