6 more killed in road crashes
At least six more persons were killed and 20 others seriously injured in separate road crashes across the country on Wednesday.
In Dinajpur, two motorcyclists were killed and two others critically injured when a truck rammed them in Birganj upazila of the district on Wednesday.
The accident took place at Kaikuri Paka Rasta area under Nijpara union of Birganj upazila at 1:30 pm.
The deceased were identified as Jahura Bewa, 45, wife of one late Abdur Rashid of Jagadishpur village and her grand daughter Jui, 7.
Sakila Parvin, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Birganj Police Station told the news to the media.
In Natore, at least two persons were killed and 14 others seriously injuried in separate road crashes in Sadar and Boraigram upazilas on Wednesday.
The deceased were identified as Saifat Ali Sheikh, 65, from Tarash upazila of Sirajganj and Rahela Begum, wife of late Suklal Sarder of Boraigram upazila.
Local sources said, a cattle-laden human hauler skidded into a roadside ditch as its driver lost control over the steering in Ramaigachhi area at noon leaving a cattle trader dead on the spot and 14 others injured.
Md Tarik Bin Khalid, Officer-in-Charge of Sadar Model Police Station, confirmed the matter to media.
Md Alim Sikder, OC of Banpara Highway Police Station, told media that a speedy bus hit a woman while she was crossing the Natore-Pabna Highway in Boraigram upazila around 10:30am, leaving her dead on the spot.
In Satkhira, a local trader named Ali Reza,35, was killed and another was seriously injured when a truck rammed them in Holholia Bazar under Kolaroa upazila of the district on Wednesday.
Moniruzzaman, Officer-in-Charge of Kolaroa Police confirmed it to the media.
In Barishal, a teenage boy named Tareque Rahman, 14, was succumbed to injuries at Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital on Wednesday.
Earlier on April 7, he was seriously injured in a road accident.
Sultan Ahmed, Sub-Inspector of Kotawali Police Station told the matter to media.
