Advance bus tickets sold out!

The city’s private bus operators started selling of advance tickets of 60 long distance routes from Monday on the occasion of holy Eid-ul-Fitr.
The Eid passengers have complained that the black marketeers have managed a lot of tickets in collaboration with a section of dishonest transport employees for sale of those at high rate later.
Hundreds of Eid passengers gathered at Gabtoli, Kalyanpur, Shyamoli, Mohakhali and Sayedabad bus terminals for tickets. But many returned being disappointed, alleging ‘ticket blackmailing’. Jamal Uddin, a resident of Mirpur, said that he went to the Sakura Bus Counter near the Gabtoli terminal for a ticket to go to Barisal on July 27 but he could not buy. The man on the ticket counter said, “All tickets had been exhausted.”
Several Eid passengers said that they saw a man to buy 50 tickets from the counter in the morning. “We tried to lodge a complaint but Counter Manager Mirza Erfan did not take it into cognizance,” they said.
Air members of public cannot be pleased because the number of seats is limited, one employee said wishing not to be named.
Out of 36 seats, 10 tickets have been kept reserved for the bus owner, four for the law enforces and eight tickets sold on on-line. It means that 14 tickets only we can sell from the counter, said a transport employee.
A transport company at Gabtoli is charging extra Tk 50 to Tk 100 for each ticket.
Kazi Mizanur Rahman, Manager of the company denying the allegation said that they were not taking any extra amount.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) announced that it would start special service from July 24. Deputy Manager (Operation) Rafiqul Islam Talukder confirmed it to the media.
He said that BRTC’s 900 buses would transport passengers to and from Dhaka. The sale of its advanced tickets will begin from July 20.
