Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim on Tuesday called upon the doctors to use modern technologies at their workplace to cooperate the government as well as the common people.
“Government is introducing smart software and updated technologies to monitor doctors sitting in a room but they (doctors) are making new tactics to dodge work by avoiding those technologies.”
The Minister regretted the performance of doctors at remote areas, while speaking as the chief guest at the concluding day of a two-day South Asian regional health informatics conference on e-health and m-health for universal coverage of maternal and child health at Ruposhi Bangla Hotel in the capital. The Management Information System of the DGHS organized the event with support from WHO, GIZ and UBS Optimus Foundation. Nasim requested the doctors to be loyal with their duty as government will also give them the feedback in future with promotion and opportunities of achieving higher degrees. “I don’t want to make force (to doctors), I just want to help them with return on their performance. They have to realize that they are in a holy profession and therefore have to serve the people,” Nasim said.
Regarding the allegation of local people about absence of physicians at their Workplace, he said, “I don’t find any success in the health sector while visiting out of the capital.” Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Prof Dr Deen Muhammad Nurul Haque also spoke among others with Additional Director General (Planning and Development) at the DGSH Prof Dr Abul Kalam Azad in the chair. The conference emphasized on ‘e- and m-Health Innovations’ Related to Reproductive, Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health (RMNCH)’ issues.
