Entrepreneurship Fair at EU

Faculty of Business Administration (FBA), Eastern University (EU) organized “Innovation and Entrepreneurship Fair 2017” at EU Plaza Area in the city on Tuesday. Tahsina Shahin, Designer and Chairperson, Sadakalo inaugurated the program. Engr Kh. Mesbah Uddin Ahmed, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, EU distributed the prizes among the winners as chief guest. Prof Dr Md. Nurul Islam, Vice Chancellor, Eastern University presided over the event while Prof Dr Raisul Awal Mahmood, Dean, Faculty of Business Administration, Eastern University delivered the welcome speech. Rakib Ahmed, Assistant Professor, FBA, Eastern University delivered the speech as convener of the program. The Chairperson of the department of Business Administration, Registrar, faculty members and officials were present in the program. To celebrate the event, Eastern University campus was decorated in a colorful and festive manner and a large number of students gathered to enjoy this grand program.
The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Fair was basically knowledge to practice session. The objective of the fair was to learn how a business idea could be generated, implemented into a real venture and managed it as well. The students of the Entrepreneurship Development course as well as other students demonstrated their creative and innovative idea through representing the stalls. The fair was celebrated and demonstrated through daylong diverse activities by different stalls. Participating students told such kind of program added a new dimension in their learning process. There were different products in the fair like books, ornaments, jewellary, traditional item made of cane, bamboo, wood etc., dress, winter clothing, organic food, tree plants, regular and seasonal food items including pitha (cake), pizza and so on.
In the inauguration session, Tahsina Shahin highly appreciated the initiatives taken by FBA, EU to enrich the student’s knowledge to be an entrepreneur. We should have passion and think differently so that we could be the job provider not the job seekers. She stressed that such initiatives will help the students groom up their latent qualities and lead the future generation. A Committee evaluated the overall performances of the student entrepreneurs in three categories based on – (i) the best business idea (ii) best stall decoration and (iii) the best teamwork. In the grand prize giving ceremony, Engr Kh. Mesbah Uddin Ahmed distributed the prize and award among the winners for their best performance. He also shared some motivating and inspiring speech towards the students. The event ended with vote of thanks by the program member secretary.
