AIUB student awarded in ICT Expo

To embolden the advancement in technology, ICT Division, Ministry of Posts, Telecommunication and Information Technology, Bangladesh Computer Samity (BCS) and Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority organised “Bangladesh ICT Expo – 2017” to showcase the immense potential of Bangladesh ICT industry, especially in hardware sector and express the vision of manufacturing segment. The Expo was held at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) with the theme of “Make in Bangladesh”. It was a three-day long session starting from Saturday and commencing the conclusion on Monday. Planning Minister AHM Mostafa Kamal, MP inaugurated the event.
Among different sessions, under i2i (Innovation to Industry) session-1, around 89 groups participated to apprise their innovative projects and finally among them 3 small businesses and 2 university projects were selected for distinguished and awarded as a token of recognition. It’s a matter of great pride that, Md. Sadad Mahamud (Student, Department of EEE, AIUB) conquered a position in the top 5 groups with an attractive project named “Watch IT: An Assistive Device for Speaking and Hearing Impaired”.
He did this project under the supervision of Md. Saniat Rahman Zishan (Senior Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering and Special Assistant, OSA, AIUB). This project immensely exhibited the commendable level of innovation where they come out a smart solution for listening and speaking of impaired persons. By using this device impaired person can minimize their communication problems with normal person and that can give imperative impact on the betterment of the society. Md. Sadad Mahamud received Microsoft Bangladesh Limited brand ambassadorship for next 1 year from Sonia Bashir Kabir (Managing Director, Microsoft Bangladesh limited). Also this innovation was selected for development under Datasoft Systems Bangladesh limited by Mahboob Zaman, Managing Director, Datasoft.
State Minister of Post, Telecommunications and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak along with Imran Ahmed (Chairman, Committee of Parliament), Shubir Kishor Chowdhury (Secretary, ICT) Hosne Ara Begum NDC (Additional Secretary, Managing Director, Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority) were present on the occasion.
