Men’s chess team bags 6th spot in Asian Indoor Games

Bangladesh men’s team finished at 6th position in the Rapid team chess event of the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Games 2017 was held at Ashgabat in Turkmenistan on Tuesday.
Bangladesh men’s team earned six points out of five matches. They won two matches, drew two matches and lost one match.
In the 5th or last round games was held on Tuesday, Bangladesh split point with Uzbekistan by 1-1 points.
GM Enamul Hossain Razib drew with GM Vakhidov Jakhongir and GM Mollah Abdullah Al Rakib split point with FM Begmuratov Alisher of Uzbekistan.
After 5 rounds China, Vietnam and Turkmenistan with seven points each and Qatar with 6.5 points, qualified in semi-finals.
Turkmenistan and Qatar got Bronze medals after losing in semi-finals.
China and Vietnam will play final for gold and silver medal. Iran became 7th, Kazakhstan became 8th and India became 9th in Rapid event of men’s section with 5.5 points each.
On the other hand, Bangladesh women’s team became 12th with 4 points. In last round.
Bangladesh women’s team split point Turkmenistan women team by 1-1 point.
In last round WFM Sharmin Sultana Shirin beat WGM Geldiyeva Mahri of Turkmenistan and WIM Shamima Akter Liza lost to WFM Hallaeva Bahar of Turkmenistan.
Vietnam and India secured bronze medals in Rapid chess of women’s section and Indonesian and China will play final of women rapid chess for gold and silver medal.
Eighteen teams participated in men’s section and 12 teams took part in women section.
