Sarwaruddin with Aslam back from Ukhiya :
Rohingya citizens are pouring after crossing Myanmar border into Bangladesh every day.
These Rohingya refugees are taking shelters on Coxsbazar-Teknaf Highway from Ukhiya point to Teknaf Sadar.
Our Raozan Correspondent after visiting the Ukhiya, Teknaf , witnessed that a number of Rohingya families are being deprived from relief goods due to looting by the unscrupulous gang members in disguise of fresh Rohingya refugees.
Our correspondent told that the refugees so took shelters at Ukhiya Sadar areas on Highway since September 14 last are deprieved of relief materials causing starvation.
It is alleged from the local conscious people that the old Rohingya refugees of the area in connivance of the unscrupulous locals are very much active to snatch the relief materials by obstructing the relief transports on the way . Due to these unscrupulous beneficiaries, the newcomer refugees are being deprived from relief. After talking with the various local people, it is learnt that relief goods are coming from personal initiatives or from organisational banners every day but these reliefs are being looted on the way by a section of dishonest people in disguise of Rohingyas.
Local sources aid the influential inhuman people of the locality along with the old Rohingya refugees are resisting the newcomers to reach nearby of relief transports and these unscrupulous gang members create scope for looting the relief goods in disguise lack of proper distribution method. While talking with the newcomer Rohingya refugees, it is ascertained that these newcomers need first of all tents, water, dry foods and medicines to survive our correspondent said. Moreover sanitation arrangement is also urgently needed.
After long on Teknaf highway from Ukhiya point, the entire 30 kilometers road side are packed with
Refugees specifically majority women, and children. Our correspondent sources said the relief convoys could not reach to the newcomers camp due to obstructions on the way. After viewing the relief transports, the unscrupulous locals with association of old refugees obstruct the relief transports on the way aimed at taking away these reliefs and hence the genuine new coming refugees are not getting these relief goods.
Our correspondent while returning from Ukhiya witnessed about 60 to 70 bodies of male, female and children are floating in Bhumidang Khal beside Myanmar border belt ,
According to a available Cox’s Bazar district statistics, about 4 lakh Rohingya people took shelter in Bangladesh . An official of Cox’s Bazar district administration on condition of anonymity told that the relief so far distributed are from personal or private organizational initiatives and NGOs & from abroad. Distribution of reliefs from govt level now in pipeline, sources added.
