Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Railway and ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury MP will proceed towards Kutupalong , Ukhiya along with 200 metric tons of essential commodities worth about Tk.2 crores aimed at distributing to the Myanmar escapee Rohingya nationals .
It is learnt under the leadership of the local legislator, Raozan Upazila Awami League and its front organisation leaders and activists will accompany the lawmaker to help facilitate the distribution process of the relief goods peacefully. While contacted Upazila Nirbahi officer Shamim Hossain Reza told that lawmaker ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury will start journey towards Ukhia today morning (Wednesday) along with the relief convoy.
In the meantime all relief goods were stored at Upazila Sadar godown and later packed in poly bags for smooth distribution. The relief materials include 150 tons rice, 2 lac pcs of OR saline, 1.5 lac paracetamol tablets, 12thousand milk-power packets, 12 thousand bottles of tooth power. 5 tons lentils, one thousand tents, 10000 pcs of new clothes, 11 lakh biscuit packets, 30 thousand tea leaf packet, 24 thousand glucose D , 12thousand pcs of soap, 7 thousand bottles of mineral water, 1,028 mugs, 1025 buckets , 1028 mosquito curtains, 5 thousand household utensils, sugar and essential items. Sources said General Secretary of ruling party and Minister Obaidul Kader will remain present in the distribution program as chief guest.
This was disclosed by the lawmaker in the press conference. Among others, UNO Md Shamim Hossain Reza, Upazila AL President Kamaluddin Ahmed, Panel Mayor Jamiruddin Parvez, OC Raozan thana Kefayetullah were present in the press meet.
To procure the relief goods, people one Pourashava, 14 union parishads and students , teachers and people irrespective of opinions extended help in the programs of relief goods procurement, our Raozan correspondent sources said.
Ctg Red Crescent provides humanitarian assistance
Chittagong City Red Crescent Unit has come forward to help the people from Rakhine State of Myanmar.
Tk 3,70,000 was handed over to the National Headquarters of the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society from Chittagong City Unit as a part of humanitarian assistance.
Treasurer of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society Adv Touhidur Rahman received the check of donations at the Chairman’s Office of the National Headquarters yesterday morning.
Executive Committee Member of Chittagong City Unit H. M Salahuddin handed over this check. S.M Ahmad, Director of Youth and Volunteer Department of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, Social worker Muntasir Mamun and Mrs. Kashfia Kamal were also present on the occasion.
Chittagong City unit’s executive committee member H.M Salahuddin stated that some philanthropic people of Chittagong under the leadership of Mr. Muntasir collected this money from their friends and relatives.
Bangladesh Red Crescent Society’s Treasurer Adv Touhidur Rahman informed that Bangladesh Red Crescent Society has continued to distribute food and other essential items to Myanmar nationals who have taken shelter in Bangladesh. Free treatment is also being provided to them. The money received from the Chittagong City Unit will also be used to support the vulnerable People from Rakhine state of Myanmar.
BHMA’s free medical services
A homeopathic medical team of the Chittagong Unit of Bangladesh Homeopathic Medical Association conducted two- day long free medical camp at Teknaf Kutupalang refugee camp on Friday and Saturday last.
While contacted the phsysicians of the team told that extending medicare facilities to the hapless Rohingyas is moral obligations and it is our moral duty to save the lives of the ailing refugees flee from neighbouring Myanmar.
The BHMA leaders called upon the govt, non-govt organizations and foreign aid groups to come forward to save the lives of the millions of refugees sheltered in Bangladesh .
Among others, Chief Editor of Homeo Chetona, Chairman , of Bishwajanin Shanti Sanga Principal Dr Abdul Karim, divisional govt representative of BHB Dr.Saleh Ahmed Suleman , BHMA Chittagong District Unit President Advocate Dr Samiuddin, General Secretary Dr.Md. Shamsuddin, Principal of Dr Zakir Hossain Homeo Medical College Dr.Nurul Amin and executive members of the unit were present there in the camp , BHMA sources said.
