Ctg cattle market gets momentum

Huge sacrificial animals from nearby Myanmar and India are reaching the cattle markets in port city Chittagong. Despite having adequate number of local cattle in Chittagong, the cattle from Myanmar and India are reaching Chittagong every day.
According to sources, the demand of sacrificial animal for upcoming holy Eid-ul Azha is likely to be more than six lakh. The District Livestock Department and Chittagong District Administration hoped that a total 5.91lakh cattle are likely to be sacrificed during upcoming Eid.
The authorities concern are preparing the arrangement for temporary hats, treatments of cattle etc from now. Sources said, the district administration are going to arrange a total of 250 cattle markets for selling cattle for upcoming Eid ul Azha.
DC of Chittagong Mohammad Zillur Rahman Chowdhury said that no illegal cattle market can be set up in the city or rural areas. He is very concern over the illegal cattle markets and extortion in cattle markets in the current year.
Rahman has already given directives to the authorities concerned to ensure arrangement of temporary cattle markets and good management of the markets. He said, “We have to ensure the presence of disease free cattle in the cattle markets for upcoming Eid. We also have to ensure the law and order situation during the trading of the cattle in the cattle markets this year.”
