Food Minister Advocate Qamrul Islam said that the government has a plan to set up the fibre cable at every schools and union councils in the country as the people can get benefit from the information technology service. The minister said this on Sunday as the chief while he was inaugurating the digital fair on Keraniganj upazila council premises.
Talking about the Information Technology fairs which already have begun from Sunday at sixty-seven upazilas across the country, the food minister said “The country would not lagging behind in information technology and we have reached to that stage.” The present government under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is firm to reach the information technology service at the doorsteps of the common people, the minister said.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Abul Bashar Mohammad Fakruzzaman presided over the meeting. It was also addressed, among others, by joint secretary of the Information Ministry Shayama Proshad Bepari, Keranigonj Upazila Chairman Shahin Ahmed and representative from various organizations.
The minister said the then Prime Minister of the four-party alliance government had done a serious mistake not to connect the country with the submarine cable, saying “No country can go ahead without the information technology.”
