Avishek stars of Mohammedan`s 6-wicket win in PCL

Opener Avishek Mitra fell short five runs from century, but Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited registered an emphatic six-wicket victory over Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club Limited it the sixth round of Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (PCL) held on Friday at Khan Shaeb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah. The 24-year right handed batsman Avishek hit three boundaries and two over boundaries to guide Mohammedan towards the facile victory.
He also shared 57-run opening stand with Rony Talukder who chipped away 26 runs and again added 55-runs partnership with Shamsur Rahman (21) for the second wicket stand during his 134-ball stay on the crease.
Later skipper Raqibul Hasan (49 n.o) and Nazmul Hossain Milon (26 n.o) sealed the victory with unbeaten 49 runs fifth wicket stand as Mohammedan comfortably reached the destination with 14 balls remaining.
Earlier, forced to bat first by Mohammedan, Doleshwar managed to score a decent total of 228 for 9 from their allotted 50 overs courtesy of Abdul Mazid (50), Farhad Reza (46) and Jaker Ali (40).
Mohammedan’s Sri Lankan recruit Charith Asalanka and Sajedul Islam were the most successful bowlers as they grabbed three Doleshwar’s wickets each giving away 29 and 30 runs respectively. Avishek Mitra of Mohammedan was named the player of the match for his brilliant batting performance.
