Lighting kills 4 , houses damaged

One hour long nor’wester that swept over some unions under Morrelganj Upazila in the district on Saturday night caused huge damage to the educational institutions, thatched houses, shops, trees and electricity linnes.
According to sources , some 25 thatched houses, SB Adarsha Bahumukhi Mddhyamik Bidyalaya, Bipin Kamal Maddhyamik Bidyalaya and Baharbunia Junior High School under Baharbunia Union, about 50 kutcha dwelling houses and Sernikhali Ishaq Ali Dakhil Madrsa under Balaibunia Union, 20 thatched houses and Surendrnath Maddhyamik Bidyalaya under Panchakaran Union, 80 thatched houses, Dakkhin Bangla College, Alimunnesa Dakhil Madres and Panchagram Sammilita Yusufia Alia Madrsa under Jewdhara Union were badly damaged by the storm.
Besides, Kabir Hossain (38), a fisherman of village Pashurbunia under Khawlia union was killed at the same night by lightning while he was catching fish in the river Panguchi. Being struck by lightning he fell in the river from his fishing boat . Shahjahan Dulal, Chairman, Dhansagar Union under Sharankhola Upazila said that Lal Bhanu (65), wife of one Majid Khan of village Paschim Rajapur under the same Upazila met her tragic end on Saturday when suddenly a lightning flashed on her. At that time she was driving her cows to the cow-shed.
Faridpur Correspondent adds: Two persons were killed and three other injured from thunder strike at village Shonamukhir Char under Bhanga upazila of Faridpur on Monday.
According to local sources, the thunder stroke at about 2pm when a group of five were playing card close to their home under trees.
The dead were Humayon Hawlader, 32, son of one Moinuddin Hawlader and Shamim Kholifa, 28 son of Ashraf Kholifa of the same area. Three of the injured were admitted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital.
