Dr Ramendra Narayan Sarker, father of journalist Tarun Sarker, died of old age complications at his residence at Astagram upazila in Kishoreganj district on Monday. He was 84.
Sarker left behind his wife, a daughter and four sons to mourn his death.
His cremation was held on Tuesday while his sraddha, a Hindu ritual will be held on April 6 next.
Dhaka Reporters’ Unity (DRU) President Shakhawat Hossain Badsha and General Secretary Mursalin Nomani expressed profound shock at the death of Sarker.
They prayed for eternal peace of departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.
