Prisoners to get cell phone facilities: Asad

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Sunday said that prisoners will soon get access to cell phone facilities to talk to their family members.
The Jail authorities will make all the arrangements in this regard.
The minister said this while speaking as the chief guest at Kashimpur Central Jail in Gazipur marking Jail Week-2017 on Sunday afternoon.
The initiative has already been taken as per the desire of the Prime Minster, said the minister.
The jail administration is preparing a data base file to improve the law and order system, he said.
 “Once the jail was known as the center of executing the punishments. With the passage of time, we have relieved ourselves from the out-dated concept and we are now going to a new and modern chapter of the jail history,” the minister said.
The jail authorities are trying to change the mentality of the inmates and rehabilitate them in the society, he said.
The Minister claimed that the government has already approved the fund for Jail Training Academy, Jail Security Modernization Project, Women Staff Security Residential Project and Mymensing Jail Extension and Modernization Project.
