Faridpur poura budget announced

A total proposed budget of Taka 201 crore 76 lakh 84 thousand for the 2016-17 fiscal year of Faridpur Pourashava, was unveiled on Tuesday in the meeting of Town Level Coordination Committee(TLCC) held here at local Ambica Memorial.
This year’s budget, the biggest ever in size since the establishment of the local government institution in 1869, put special emphasis on infrastructure improvement, water supply and sanitation. Mayor of Faridpur Pourashava Shaikh Mahatab Ali Methu announced the proposed budget in presence of a large number of citizens of the pourashava.
The revised budget of the outgoing 2015-16 fiscal was Taka 56 crore 81 lakh 89 thousand 913 while the new budget for next fiscal stood at Taka 201 crore 76 lakh 84 thousand.
In the budget document an amount of Taka 31 crore 86 lakh 3 thousand 573 was shown in the revenue head, Taka 27 crore 37 lakh 5 thousand 725 in the development head, Taka 5 crore 74 lakh in the capital head while Taka 136 crore was earmarked in the project head.
Tanzilur Rahman, secretary of the Poursahava presented a power point presentation of the budget documents. Members of the TLCC and other citizens took part in the discussion.
While presenting the budget, the mayor sought cooperation of all particularly the citizens for its successful implementation with highest transparency.
The budget meeting was also addressed among others by CEO Faridpur
Pouashava Md. Shahjahan Mia, BSS Correspondent Prof. Shahjahan, Faridpur Civil Society member Prof. M.A. Altaf Hossain, Councilor Anisur Rahman Choudhury and NGO activist Asma Akhter Mukta.
The proposed budget approved yesterday will require a final nod of the Pourasahva parishad in the meeting of the councilors to be held soon.
