70 houses gutted in Pirganj

At least 70 thatched houses were gutted in a fire at Joshaipara village in Pirganj upazila of Thakurgaon district on Saturday night.
The fire originated from an earthen over of one Altafur Rahman’s house at the village at around 11:25pm and soon engulfed the adjacent 69 houses.
Being informed, fire-fighters from Pirganj and Thakurgaon rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control with the help of local people after two hours of frantic efforts.
The fire made at least 150 people homeless. They are now living under the open sky and waiting for necessary help.
Local Upazila administration distribute relief materials to the fire victim people on sunday, UNO Sabbir Ahmed confirmed it.
