Nagorik Chhatra Oikya
A sit-in programme jointly organised by Nagorik Chhatra Oikya and Nagorik Jubo Oikya was held in front of Jatiya Press Club in the city. In the programme the speakers demanded immediate release of Convenor of Nagorik Oikya Manhmudur Rahman Manna. They also demanded exemplary punishment to those involved in Tonu and Banshkhali killings. The speakers also demanded end to corruption and misrule. The event was addressed, among others, by Founder of Ganoswasthya Kendra and freedom fighter Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury, General Secretary of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal Abdul Malek Ratan, member of the central committee of Nagorik Oikya Shahidullah Kaiser, labour leader Advocate Mahbubur Rahman Ismail, Convenor of Nagorik Jubo Oikya Shahinul Alam. Convenor of the organisation Nazmul Hasan presided over the event.
Glencoe Foundation
About 28,000 curved-leg children were provided treatment free of cost during last five years (2011-16) by the Glencoe Foundation through 48 hospitals across the country.The foundation disclosed the treatment figure at a seminar at Naogaon Sadar Hospital auditorium on Sunday.The curved-leg children get normal legs in Poinsett Method treatment and they are enjoying their normal mobility privileges at present, said Shariful Islam Khan, clinical services manager of the foundation. Superintendent of Naogaon Sadar Hospital Dr Anjuman Ara presided over the function. It was addressed, among others, by civil surgeon of the hospital Dr AKM Mojahar Hossain, senior consultant of orthopedic division Dr Abu Hena Selim and Poinsett practitioner of the foundation Dr Ahasan Habib.
