Farmers being benefited in growing crops with help of ASSEDO

Farmers of remote char areas of Chapainawabganj Sadar upazila are being benefited in growing crops paddy, wheat, maize, jute and vegetables with the help of non-government organization Agriculture Sustainable and Socio-Economic Development Organization (ASSEDO).
ASSEDO has been assisting farmers with seeds and other agricultural inputs side by side with government aids under its Nadi O Jibon-2 project.
Altara Begum, a member of the village committee of the project cultivated BARI Gom-26 on one bigha of land near her house at Batrisrashia village in Narayanpur union of the sadar upazila getting seeds from ASSEDO. It is observed that the wheat field is now looking very beautiful and she expects a good production of wheat in the field.
A team of ASSEDO visited her wheat field on Thursday. After the visit ASSEDO arranged a farmers’ field day discussion meeting in the area. It was addressed by former official of the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) Abul Hossain Patwary, president of the local char alliance Nadi O Jibon-2 project Shahjahan Ali, member of the same Kamrunnahar Eti, executive director of ASSEDO Rabiul Alom, Harunur Rashid of Jobs Bangladesh, former UP member Enamul Hoque and area manager of Lalteer Beez Limited Emdadul Hoque.
Women members of community based organization and the local people were present in the field day meeting.
Later, with a view to building capacity, a training programme of the leaders of women farmers was held at the conference room of Narayanpu union parisahd.
