IMA offers study on maritime excellence

International maritime Academy (IMA), under the jurisdiction of Haque & Sons Company Ltd, has expressed its aspiration to provide quality education on maritime study in Bangladesh. IMA is situated at the outskirts of the capital Dhaka away from the hustle and crowd of city life near the bank of Ulukhola River in Pubail.
Teaching at IMA
Life in the sea requires well-trained personality along with proper mental strength and knowledge. In accordance with that requirement, the base of Nautical and Engineering Department of IMA represent skilled, experienced and robust picture comparing to any other maritime institutes in Bangladesh. The head of the institute constitutes country’s best seafarers known as (Commandant) Capt Zaki Ahad, (Deputy-Commandant) Capt Kazi Ali Imam, (CNS) Capt JM Rakib, Capt Habibur Rahman Khan, Capt Babul Hossain (CES) Chief Engineer Abdullahel Kafi, Chief Engineer Abdul Majed, all are legend in marine sector in Bangladesh.
IMA has spacious seamanship lab, chart work and simulation room for the nautical cadets, engineering workshop, electrical training room for engineering cadets. Every year 20 ranked cadets are being awarded scholarship worth of USD 5000 after completing first certificate to become officer.
Training facilities
IMA has wide range of training facilities to prepare every single cadet for the sea. Strict routine bound life, regimental training made every marine cadet moral sky high, training provided through marine workshop, one of the country’s best and govt approved institution. The fire fighting station, survival craft launching and maneuvering training, 200 seated auditorium, a marine library that contains vast varieties of books and Publications for marine studies. Besides, students are provided with efficient training for deck and engine ratings.
Job Placement
Job placement is one of the paramount issues before pursuing marine profession. At present many fraudulent practice is going on in the name of providing good company, good ship. In Bangladesh, Haque & Sons has a thriving background for manning seafarers in world-class companies around the world. At present IMA cadets are being recruited by some of the world class shipping companies like Tokyo Marine, Santoku Senpaku, and K-Line etc.
