Missing for over 2 yrs

Staff Reporter : Families of 19 victims of ‘enforced disappearance’ have demanded of the government to take necessary steps to find them immediately. The victims were allegedly picked up by the law enforcers about two years ago and since then they never returned.At a press conference at the National Press Club in city on Friday, the families alleged that all of them were victims of ‘enforced disappearance’ by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB). The families of the victims were attending the press conference to mark the second anniversary of their near and dear ones disappearance. Enforced disappearance victim Parvez Hossain’s daughter Hridi, a student of class five, requested to bring his father back to her. “Please bring back my father…bring back,” she said.  Sajedul Islam Suman’s sister Sanjida Islam Tuli read out a written statement in the press conference.”We have submitted several applications to the Home Ministry, formed human chain, held press conferences and contacted the human rights organisations at home and abroad to get back our relatives. But our all efforts went in vain,” Sanjida Islam Tuli said. Victim Sohel’s son Razu, a JSC examinee, said that his father had gone to buy flowers on the occasion of his birthday but he (father) did not retun yet.”We are facing uncertain future without my father,” a wailing Razu said. Victim’s Nizamuddin Munna’s father Shamsuddin said that he shed enough tears to get back his son.”Now I don’t want to shed tears. I have only one identity-a father of missing son. I’m only requesting the government to trace the place where my son’s body has been kept. I would like touch the place,” he said. Kazi Farhad, Sajedul Islam Suman, Zahidul Karim Tanvir, Mazharul Islam Russel, Abdul Quader Bhuiyan Masum, Asaduzzaman Rana, Al Amin, Adnan Chowdhury, Kawsar Ahmed, Selim Reza Pintu Khalid Hassan Sohel, Somrat Mollah, Zahirul Islam, Pravez Hossain, Mohammad Sohel, Sohel Chancol, Nizamuddin Munna, Tariqul Islam Jhantu and Mahbub Hassan Sujan have gone missing from the capital between November 28 and December 11 in 2013. Most of the victims were involved in the politics of Bangladesh Nationalist Party. All of them were victims of “enforced disappearance” by RAB, alleged the families.The victim’s families alleged that they had gone to the Home Ministry and the offices of different law enforcing agencies to know the development of their whereabouts.Only Rab-1 picked six of them, including Suman, from the capital’s Bashundhara Residential Area and two others from Shaheenbagh between 8:00pm on December 4 and 2:00am on December 5, the family members alleged. Sajedul Islam Suman’s mother Hazera Khatun said two years have already elapsed but none has given any information about her son’s whereabouts.”Dear bothers (journalists) please write about my son so that I could get back my son,” she said.  Khalid Hassan Sohel’s wife Shammi Sultan said some people introducing themselves as the members of law enforcing agencies picked her husband from in front of the Dhaka Central jail gate. “I’m passing through very tough time with my two children. I want to get back my husband and children their father,” she said.Others attending the conference also narrated almost the same story about the enforced disappearance of their beloved ones.
