Smart phones worth Tk.6 cr seized at Ctg Port

Chittagong Bureau :Customs Intelligence & Investigation officials in Chittagong seized huge numbers of imported smart phones from Chittagong port yard on Sunday. After physical inventory of a container, about 15,750 pieces of smart phones detected that importedvwithout valid documents by M/s. Noha Enterprises from China. Customs assessment sources said the approximate cost of these smart phone not less than Tk.6 crores. Customs sources said Noha Enterprises imported these smart phones from China in middle of October last without the approval of BTRC and hence the importer tried to release the consignment by presenting a old one permission letter of BTRC erasing the time and discrepencies in Bill of Entry. Deputy Director of Customs Intelligence inChittagong Zakir Hossain told that necessary legal actions will be taken against importer, c&f agents as per customs act.
