5-wkt haul by Faheem Ashraf: Massive victory for Rangpur Riders in BPL

Rangpur Riders posted a massive seven-wicket victory over Chattogram Royals in their match of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Cricket at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Monday.

Chasing Chattogram Royals’ paltry total of 102 off 17.5 overs, Rangpur Riders coasted home making 107 for the loss of three wickets when they had 30 balls to spare. Faheem Ashraf of Rangpur Rifers played the key role in demolishing Chattogram’s innings. He captured five wickets for 17 runs. Faheem Ashraf was adjudged the Man of the Match for his outstanding bowling performance.

Openers Dawid Malan and Litton Das of Rangpur Riders made a solid start putting together 91 runs in the opening stand before Litton Das was dismissed by Mukidul Islam.

Litton Das notched up a marvelous 47. His 31-ball innings was studded with four fours and two sixes.

After Litton’s dismissal, Towhid Hridoy arrived at the crease but he failed to make a notable score as he (1) was dismissed by Mukidul Islam when Rangpur’s total was 94 for the loss of two wickets.

Dawid Malan was dismissed by Mahmudul Hasan Joy when Rangpur’s total was 101 for the loss of three wickets. Malan hit a terrific 51. His 48-ball knock was belted with five fours and two sixes.

Mukidul Islam bagged two wickets instead of five runs, while Mahmudul Hasan Joy got one wicket conceding 30 runs.Earlier, bowlers of Rangpur Riders totally dominated the batters of Chattogram Royals. Three batters of Chattogram could reach double digit figures. Opener Mohammad Naim and one-down Mirza Baig of Chattogram Royals could build the only notable partnership. They scored together 42 runs in the second wicket stand before Mohammad Naim was bowled out by Mustafizur Rahman when Chattogram’s total was 45 for the loss of two wickets.

Mohammad Naim made 39 from 20 deliveries featuring seven fours and a sixer. Mirza Baig scored 20 from 24 balls including two fours. He was also a victim of Mustafizur Rahman.

Abu Hider was the other batter of Chattogram Royals who could reach double digit figures scoring 13. He was dismissed by Faheem Ashraf.

Mustafizur Rahman claimed two wickets in the space of 19 runs.

Sufiyan Muqeem, Aliss Al Islam and Nahid Rana took one wicket each for 12, 17 and 33 runs respectively.
