Chattogram Bureau :
A meeting of the Hajj Jatri Kayllan Parishad, Chattogram was held at a city post hotel on January 6 last with its President Ahmadul Islam Chowdhury in the chair.
Secretary General of the parishad Principal Dr.Abdul Karim delivered address of welcome in it. Former President of Chattogram Lawyers Samity Adv Anowarul Islam chowdhury was present in it as guest of honour . The speakers in the meeting told that hajj registration of current season is almost complete and 84 thousand aspirant pilgrim got registered this year .
The speakers demanded to operate the existing Pahartali haji camp of Chattogram as divisional hajj office soon so that the miseries in going and coming to Dhaka and Chattogram by the Hajj kafela agency, travel agents etc. and their staffs will be relieved to a maximum extent. The discussants in the meeting told that one third of the total hajj quota or 44 thousands pilgrims seat is yet vacant which is not at all desired . So the HJKP urges govt to operate sea journey from Chattogram to Jeddah seaport and simultaneously operation of the Pahartali hajj camp from this year.
