Three Supreme Court lawyers have petitioned the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to investigate alleged corruption involving “billions of taka” by three aides linked to two advisors of the interim government.
The complaint, filed Sunday at the ACC’s Segunbagicha office, names Moazzem Hossain, former Assistant Private Secretary to Sports and Local Government Advisor Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan; Mahmudul Hasan, current Personal Officer (PO) to Health Advisor Nurjahan Begum; and Tuhin Farabi, former PO and student representative.
The petitioners — lawyers Nadim Mahmud, Eyasin Alfaz, and Mohammad Shafiqul Islam — allege that the three were involved in large-scale corruption through lobbying.
Notably, Moazzem Hossain and Tuhin Farabi were recently acquitted in previous corruption cases.
Earlier on Sunday, ACC Director General Akhtar Hossain confirmed that the agency was already reviewing the allegations against Moazzem and Tuhin.
Speaking to reporters after filing the petition, lawyer Eyasin Alfaz said, “We have requested the ACC to launch an investigation within 10 working days into their alleged embezzlement of billions of taka through lobbying.”
