BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced the party’s nominations on Monday.
Among the nominees, Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku, a member of the BNP Standing Committee, has been nominated for Sirajganj-2 constituency (part of Sadar and Kamarkhand upazilas). For Sirajganj-3 (Raiganj, Tarash, and part of Salanga), former Upazila BNP General Secretary VP Aynul Haque, who had been temporarily relieved from the party for three months after August 5 due to allegations of violating party discipline and extortion, received the nomination.
Former MP M. Akbar Ali has been nominated for Sirajganj-4 (Ullapara) constituency, while Dr. M.A. Muhit, Advisor to the District BNP, has been nominated for Sirajganj-5 (Shahjadpur). Amirul Islam Khan Ali, BNP Assistant Organizing Secretary and former General Secretary of the Central Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, has been nominated for Sirajganj-6 (Belkuchi-Chowhali).
However, the nomination for Sirajganj-1 (Kazipur and part of Sadar upazila) has been kept pending. Following the announcement, BNP supporters of the nominated candidates celebrated with joy and enthusiasm across the district.
