MTB remembers its founding chairman Syed Manzur Elahi

Mutual Trust Bank PLC (MTB) and its subsidiaries MTB Capital Ltd. and MTB Securities PLC – solemnly remember Syed Manzur Elahi, Founding Chairman of MTB, on his first death anniversary.

A visionary entrepreneur, respected industrialist, and statesman, Elahi played a pivotal role in shaping Bangladesh’s business and corporate landscape, said a media release.

He established Apex Tannery in 1976 and later founded Apex Footwear Ltd. and Grey Advertising (Bangladesh) Ltd. In 1999, he was instrumental in founding MTB and served as its first Chairman.

His exceptional leadership and professionalism earned him the honor of serving twice as Adviser to the Caretaker Government of Bangladesh, in 1996 and 2001. Beyond business, he dedicated his life to education and social development, contributing significantly through East West University and the ManusherJonno Foundation. Recognized for his lifelong commitment to ethics, excellence, and public service, he received numerous prestigious awards, including the “Lifetime Achievement Award” from UKBCCI in 2023.
