BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has said that the young generation will be transformed into a skilled workforce through training.
He made the remarks on Sunday afternoon while delivering the chief guest’s speech at the inauguration of a “Digital Memorial” in remembrance of the martyrs of the July uprising at Shaheed Titu Auditorium in Bogura town. He joined the event virtually from London.
In his speech as the chief guest, he said, “First of all, I pray for the eternal peace of Shaheed Osman Hadi. The young brothers we lost in the July movement were assets of the nation.
The digital memorial is a symbol of ensuring free access to the internet. If BNP forms the government in the future, one of our key goals will be to create special facilities for those involved in freelancing and various online professions.
Our 31-point agenda will be condensed into 7 core points, and we will work to implement them.”
Tarique Rahman further said, “Education is the backbone of the nation. Alongside education, groundbreaking programmes will be undertaken to ensure healthcare for the people.
One hundred thousand health workers will be recruited nationwide, of whom 85 percent will be women.
In addition, emphasis will be placed on technical education and language training to build a skilled workforce suited for Europe, the Middle East, Japan, and even China.
Announcing the launch of free Wi-Fi to make internet use easier for students and young people, he said, “In the future, free internet connections will be arranged at 20 locations in Bogura. This facility has already been launched at Government Azizul Haque College.”
Calling on party leaders and activists to remain vigilant, he said, “Fascists have destroyed the country. Now is the time to rebuild it.
Some are trying to create chaos; we must remain alert. Shaheed Ziaur Rahman made the country self-reliant by introducing food programmes and opening the path for the garments industry and remittances. Begum Khaleda Zia advanced the country by overthrowing autocracy.
We always want to stand beside those who were martyred and injured in the movements of 1971 and 2024.”
The programme was presided over by Rezaual Karim Badsha, president of Bogura District BNP, and conducted by Mosharraf Hossain, acting general secretary of the district unit.
Speakers included Advocate AKM Mahbubur Rahman, adviser to BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and former mayor; Helaluzzaman Talukder Lalu, senior vice-president of the central committee of Krishak Dal and former MP; former educationist and BNP’s Information and Technology Affairs Secretary Professor AKM Wahiduzzaman Apollo; Golam Mohammad Siraj; and Kazi Rafiqul Islam.
In addition to BNP leaders, people from all walks of life were present at the event.
