Tigers-Pakistan 1st ODI today
Bangladesh Cricket team will take on Pakistan Cricket team today in the first One Day International (ODI) cricket match at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the capital’s Mirpur.
The match will start at 2:15pm (Bangladesh Standard Time). Private satellite sports channel T Sports will telecast the match live from the ‘Home of Cricket’.
Captain of Bangladesh Cricket team experienced all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz will lead his side, while Captain of Pakistan Cricket team fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi will lead his team.
According to the latest International Cricket Council (ICC) rankings, the Tigers have taken the 10th position in ODI cricket, while Pakistan have taken fourth spot.
Captain of Bangladesh ODI Cricket team Mehidy Hasan Miraz said on Tuesday, ” There are 22 ODIs this year. Of course it is a big opportunity for us for every player to play consecutive ODIs.
The batting order that we have said that we must have the best combination for the team, that is what we are trying to do and that is what we will do. Because at the end of the day, our result is very important.”
Sharing his message to the cricketers, Miraz said, “Performance is very important for every player and the challenge is very important.
If everyone can take up their challenge and if those who are performing, if they always play in the team and if they always try to contribute, then it will be very good for the team.”
Miraz also said, “The last series we won and the series that will start tomorrow is very important for us.
We are planning that way. Maybe we are not thinking too far ahead, we are thinking about each series and each match by itself.”
Reminiscing about the happy memories of the past ODIs, he said, “Of course we have a goal. Since the ODI World Cup is ahead.
We have said that we have started from now. We are definitely planning accordingly. Since before this, the ODI format was a very good format for us and we got a lot of results and we had a good pattern in the ODI format.”
Shaheen Shah Afridi said, “Any team are best in its own condition. Bangladesh are good team and they have played very good cricket at home, recently they also beat West Indies.
But as a team we are also ready. We have recently played ODIs against South Africa and Sri Lanka and played good cricket. We just want to maintain that consistency.”
Pakistan have given a chance to several young cricketers in the team for the series against Bangladesh. In this regard, Afridi said, “They have experience of playing here. Sahibzada has played here. Several players played last year too.
I think it will be easy for them to adapt because they have played on this ground and pitch and know the conditions. Hopefully they will play their best cricket.”
