Four members of a family, including a child, were killed and three others injured when a truck rammed into a private car on Dhaka-Sylhet Highway at Unishmile in Osmaninagar upazila of Sylhet district on Sunday.
Four of the deceased were identified as Sohel, 40, driver of the private car, Shamima, 40, Ety Begum, 35, and Ayan, 7, of Narayanganj district.
“The accident occurred around 7:30am when the Sylhet-bound truck hit the private car carrying seven people, leaving two people killed on the spot and five others injured,” said Osmaninagar Police Station Officer-In-Charge Monayem Mia, reports UNB.
Two of the injured died on the way to Osmani Medical College and Hospital.
All of them met the tragic accident while heading towards Sylhet Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) shrine from Narayanganj’s Rupganj upazila in their private car.
Police said the accident might have occurred due to poor visibility caused by the dense fog.
On information, police recovered the bodies and sent them to the local hospital morgue.
