Govt aims to implement July Charter

Nurul Islam Moni, Chief Whip of the National Parliament, has said that the BNP is not against the July Charter, but rather supports the “Yes” vote. He emphasized that the party intends to implement the charter exactly as written.

Speaking as the chief guest at a discussion session organized by the Nationalist Cultural Party at the National Press Club on Freedom Day, Moni said that Tarique Rahman continues to work to realize the dreams of those martyred during Bangladesh’s democratic movements. He also alleged that some forces are trying to hinder the country’s progress.

Moni claimed that a faction, unwilling to accept the defeat of 1971, is threatening to tear up the Constitution.

The event was presided over by Humayun Kabir Bepari, president of the organization. Special guests included Dhaka South City Corporation Administrator Abdus Salam, BNP Chairperson’s adviser Professor Dr. Sukomal Barua, and Arifuzzaman Babul, General Secretary of the Bangladesh Democratic Cultural Alliance.

Abdus Salam highlighted that since its inception, the BNP has worked to uphold the spirit of the Liberation War. He said the party has survived by mobilizing the public and fighting against two major forces attempting to weaken it.

He also claimed there are ongoing attempts to create controversy around the Liberation War. Speakers noted that Tarique Rahman is advancing in line with the ideals of Ziaur Rahman, and his actions reflect this legacy.
