Indian currency scandal, 5 taken on remand

A court in Chittagong granted 5 days police remand for allegedly involved with the trafficking of Indian rupees through Chittagong Port . Metropolitan Magistrate NaurinAkhter passed this order yesterday . Asstt. Police commissioner (Prosecution) Nirmalendu Bikash Chakraborty told that IO of the currency scandal prayed for 10 days police remand for quizzing but the court granted only 5 d ays. Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate seized a container on September 18 last in Chittagong Port for alleged smuggling of Indian currency packed in 4 cartons of a container which declared the consignments of household utensils.
After counting the currency notes after opening the cartoons, a total of 2.72 crores of Indian currency notes were found.
