Sonali Bank’s 1,400 temporary employees demand job regularisation
More than 1,400 temporary employees of Sonali Bank staged a rally in front of the bank’s head office in Dhaka on Tuesday, demanding the regularisation of their jobs after years of service.
The rally was held under the leadership of the Sonali Bank Employees Association (B-664), the collective bargaining agent (CBA) of the bank on Tuesday.
Temporary employees from different parts of the country joined the gathering, urging the authorities to take immediate steps to secure their employment.
Speakers at the rally called for the regularisation of the employees on humanitarian grounds, highlighting their prolonged uncertainty and alleged deprivation of employment benefits associated with permanent positions.
