BRAC University, IDCOL sign MoU for professional training programmes
BRAC University and Infrastructure Development Company Limited (IDCOL) signed a memorandum of understanding on 19 October to jointly develop professional and executive education programmes for Bangladesh’s energy and infrastructure sectors.
The agreement was signed at BRAC University’s Merul Badda campus, bringing together the university’s Centre for Energy and Logistics (CEL) and IDCOL’s expertise in infrastructure financing and sustainable investment, according to a press release.
The initial programmes are expected to cover four areas: project finance, financial modelling, solar photovoltaic project design and implementation, and supply chain and logistics operations, with a focus on artificial intelligence and green logistics.
The memorandum also establishes a broader framework for cooperation in education, research, professional development, knowledge exchange and industry engagement.
The initiative comes as Bangladesh expands its infrastructure and advances its transition to clean energy, increasing the need for professionals equipped to plan, finance and deliver complex projects.
The programmes are intended to meet that demand through practical training tailored to industry needs. They also reflect BRAC University’s effort to connect academic learning with professional practice.
Ariful Islam, treasurer of BRAC University, said the partnership would extend the institution’s mission beyond its campus as it marks 25 years.
“By combining CEL’s research with IDCOL’s field experience, we can equip professionals with the skills Bangladesh needs for a sustainable, energy-secure future,” he said.
The MoU provides a framework for BRAC University and IDCOL to work together on education and research linked to energy and infrastructure. The initial focus areas include project financing, financial modelling, solar photovoltaic projects, and supply chain and logistics operations.
