DSCC probe follows ACC directive
Nazrul Islam, Chief Urban Planner (Acting) of the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), has stated that certain conspiratorial circles are spreading misinformation regarding his experience certificates through online news outlets—an act intended to harass him, despite the fact that he possesses the requisite educational qualifications and experience as stipulated in the original recruitment notice.
He noted that an investigation into his credentials was recently conducted by the Dhaka South City Corporation, following a directive from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
The investigation, which involved a thorough review and analysis of data and information gathered from various sources, found no substance to the allegations.
Consequently, he asserts that the reports labeling him an “Urban Planner with fake experience certificates” are part of a malicious conspiracy, intended solely to defame and harass him.
He has strongly condemned and protested the dissemination of such reports.
He explained that he met all the educational and experience requirements set out in the recruitment notice published in September 2007.
Following his success in the written examination—where he secured high marks—the appointing authority issued him an interview card for an oral examination (viva voce) in 2011.
Having ranked first in both the written and oral examinations, he was formally selected for the position by the recruitment committee on November 20, 2011. However, due to obstruction by a conspiratorial group, he was prevented from taking the post; in response, he filed a writ petition (No. 8566/2011) with the High Court on October 17, 2011.
Following the final verdict in that case, he joined the position of Urban Planner on July 4, 2012—nearly five years after the initial recruitment notice was issued.
He further stated that, even after joining, he was subjected to a conspiracy that denied him any promotion for approximately 14 years. Recently, on September 3, 2024, in recognition of the discrimination he had faced, he was assigned the current charge of Chief Urban Planner.
