Deer meat, head, hide seized in Sundarbans

The Coast Guard seized deer meat, legs, a head and a hide during an operation in Golkhali, in the Sundarbans, on Thursday.

Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujon confirmed the seizure.
He said Coast Guard Station Koyra launched a special operation at around 8 am in the area near Singer Bandh in Golkhali, under Koyra upazila of Khulna, acting on a tip-off.

During the drive, the team recovered 13.7 kg of deer meat, four legs, one head and one deer skin. The seized items were valued at about Tk 40,000. No arrests were reported.

The seized items were handed over to the Kobadak Forest Patrol Outpost for further legal action.
Lt Cdr Sujon said the Coast Guard would continue such operations to stop the killing and trafficking of wildlife.
